Amazon Expands Access to Advanced AI Assistant Features
Amazon has announced the complimentary rollout of its advanced AI-powered assistant, Alexa Plus, to owners of Fire TV devices across the United States. This upgrade, effective immediately, will automatically be applied to a wide array of compatible devices, irrespective of whether users hold an active Prime subscription.
Eligible Fire TV Devices for Alexa Plus
- Amazon Fire TV Stick
- Amazon Fire TV Cube
- Amazon Ember smart TVs
- Other televisions featuring built-in Alexa Plus functionality, including models from Panasonic and Hisense
This initiative grants users in the US access to a more conversational and sophisticated version of Alexa, poised to enhance their multimedia interactions. Amazon’s strategic move aims to democratize access to its cutting-edge AI technologies, making them available to a broader user base without incurring additional costs.
I’ve been using Alexa Plus on my Fire TV Cube for a few weeks now, and the conversational improvements are noticeable. It’s much better at understanding context, which is a huge plus for finding specific shows without being overly precise. However, I’ve found it occasionally struggles with complex multi-part requests, sometimes dropping a command. My tip: if it’s not getting it, break down your request into smaller, simpler steps for better accuracy. It makes a big difference for smoother navigation.
