xAI Introduces Grok 4.6: A New Era in AI Capabilities

xAI has announced the release of its new artificial intelligence model, Grok 4.6, which reportedly delivers performance comparable to leading market solutions at a significantly reduced cost. According to xAI, Grok 4.6 achieves metrics on par with GPT-5.6 Sol, a claim supported by its results in the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, an aggregate of nine benchmarks.

Key Features and Availability of Grok 4.6

Grok 4.6 builds upon its predecessor, Grok 4.5, with substantial enhancements in long-running agent capabilities and complex interactive and visual tasks. The model demonstrates particular proficiency in intricate multi-step operations, including:

  • Topic research and information analysis.
  • Working with extensive codebases.
  • Transforming concepts into polished applications or complete work materials.

The pricing for Grok 4.6 is set at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, which xAI states is half the cost of competing models.

The Grok Ecosystem and Grok Build

Grok 4.6 is already integrated and accessible across several xAI platforms, including the Grok Build agent, Grok Bot, and via API. It is also available in Cursor. For the initial week, Cursor and Grok Build users benefit from a double usage limit.

Concurrently, xAI is actively developing its broader ecosystem, integrating Grok Build, Workflows, Grok Bot, Grok Imagine Image 2.0, and an updated harness. Notably, Grok Build is an open-source project developed in Rust, recognized for its superior user experience and high performance.

Community observations suggest that a version, referred to as Grok 4.6 by testers, has been circulating on LLM Arena for about a week under the grok-4.5 designation, potentially indicating xAI’s strategic rollout of the new model.
