The company has reached an agreement to acquire Resonant Sciences, a defense firm based in Dayton, Ohio, in a deal valued at $500 million. This acquisition marks Joby Aviation’s formal entry into a new defense business segment.

The acquisition is expected to be financed through a combination of $450 million in cash and $50 million in equity.
