Instagram Bolsters Efforts Against AI Accounts
Instagram is actively implementing measures to address the proliferation of deceptive AI-influencer accounts that have become increasingly sophisticated and challenging to identify. The platform is also rebranding its “AI creator” label to “AI-generated profile,” aiming to clearly distinguish profiles featuring an AI-generated persona from those representing a genuine human being.
Limiting Reach Amidst Growing Frustration
In response to escalating user frustration concerning AI influencers, Instagram is now limiting the reach of undisclosed AI-generated profiles. This initiative seeks to enhance transparency and combat deception, as user feedback indicates a strong dislike for profiles that present themselves as human but are, in fact, artificial.
I’ve definitely noticed a shift, especially with how many ‘new’ influencers popped up during the last year. It’s tricky because some of the AI art is incredible, but when it’s an entire persona pretending to be human, it feels really disingenuous. I usually try to reverse image search profiles that seem too perfect or have inconsistent details in their background. It’s not foolproof, but it helps filter out some of the more obvious fakes. I’m glad Instagram is stepping in, as it was getting harder to tell what was real.
