Dreame Exits Ambitious Automotive Venture

Dreame Technology, a company predominantly recognized for its robotic vacuum cleaners, has reportedly ceased operations for its automotive division. This decision marks the end of the manufacturer’s ambitious foray into the electric vehicle market, despite showcasing visually striking prototypes like the Nebula Next 01 Jet Edition.

Funding Cuts Lead to Project Starry Sky’s Demise

According to reports, a primary factor in the closure of its automotive division, internally known as “Project Starry Sky,” was the discontinuation of government funding. The project once employed over a thousand individuals, but the team has now been significantly reduced to a handful of legal and HR staff, tasked with managing the winding-down process.

The prototypes that Dreame frequently displayed at various exhibitions, including the futuristic “rocket-powered car” Nebula Next 01 Jet Edition, have been revealed to be remote-controlled models rather than functional, production-ready vehicles. This revelation clarifies the nature of Dreame’s automotive aspirations, confirming the company’s strategic pivot away from the electric vehicle sector.
