OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT Access for Free and Go Tier Users
OpenAI has announced a significant update for users on its free and Go tiers of ChatGPT. Starting next week, these users will gain access to unlimited text chats with the AI chatbot. Previously, users might have encountered rate limits when engaging in a high volume of text conversations.
Introducing New Model and Enhanced Features
In addition to removing chat limitations, OpenAI is also upgrading the underlying model for ChatGPT Free and Go users. The new default model, GPT-5.6 Luna, is set to replace the existing GPT-5.5, promising enhanced capabilities and performance. Furthermore, a new ‘think’ button is being introduced to assist with more complex queries, providing users with a tool for deeper AI interaction.
These changes are designed to substantially improve the user experience, making the powerful features of ChatGPT more accessible and efficient for a broader user base.
This is huge for my workflow! I’ve been hitting those text limits constantly, especially when trying to iterate on code snippets or brainstorm content ideas. GPT-5.6 Luna sounds promising; I’ve noticed 5.5 can sometimes get stuck in loops. My biggest tip for others: if it’s giving you generic answers, try adding ‘act as an expert [your field]’ to your prompt – it usually sharpens the output considerably. Excited to see how the ‘think’ button helps with those really thorny problems.
