Sonos Expands Product Lineup and Software Capabilities

At a recent event in New York City, Sonos made its most significant announcement in years, introducing two new audio products and a substantial update to its audio operating system. This launch underscores Sonos’s commitment to innovation in the audio technology sector.

New Hardware: Ace Ultra Headphones and Beam Ultra Soundbar

The highly anticipated Sonos Ace Ultra headphones and Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar were officially unveiled. Details regarding these devices had surfaced earlier in an FCC filing in early August, generating considerable excitement. The Ace Ultra headphones are priced at $449, while the Beam Ultra soundbar will retail for $699.

Initial impressions of the Sonos Beam Ultra soundbar were highly favorable. Despite the challenging acoustic environment of the show floor, private listening sessions revealed excellent audio quality from the new soundbar.

Software Evolution: Sonos 27 Operating System

In addition to the new hardware, Sonos also announced a major update to its audio operating system, now dubbed Sonos 27. This update brings several under-the-hood app enhancements and new features, with some expected to roll out sooner than others.
