Majorana 1 Topological Qubits Questioned
The critique specifically challenges the core technology of Microsoft’s Majorana 1 quantum computing chip. Unveiled in February 2025, Microsoft asserted that this chip featured a novel technology referred to as a topological qubit. The company positioned these topological qubits as the fundamental “building blocks” for their future quantum computers.
