Huawei Expands Ecosystem with New Smartwatches, Tablet, and Smartphones
Huawei hosted a major global launch event at the Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany, under the theme “Chasing the Elements.” The presentation introduced a range of new products, including the Watch GT 7 series of smartwatches, the innovative Watch D3, the flagship MatePad Pro tablet, and the Nova 16s series of smartphones.
Introducing the Huawei Watch GT 7 and Watch GT 7 Pro Smartwatches
The Huawei Watch GT 7 series comprises two models: the standard Watch GT 7 and the premium Watch GT 7 Pro. The Watch GT 7 is available in 46mm and 41mm case sizes and comes in eight distinct colors. The Watch GT 7 Pro boasts enhanced durability with a titanium body, while its back cover and bezel are crafted from nanoceramics. This Pro version is offered in three colors, emphasizing its sophisticated design and robust construction.
Huawei Watch D3: Advanced Health Monitoring Capabilities
A significant highlight of the presentation was the Huawei Watch D3 smartwatch, which features substantial improvements in blood pressure measurement accuracy. Compared to its predecessor, the Watch D3 offers an expanded range of functionalities for in-depth user health analysis. These smartwatches are capable of precisely measuring blood pressure both before and after physical exercise, providing personalized recommendations for optimal workout intensity. This empowers users to cultivate healthy fitness habits based on objective data.
Flagship Huawei MatePad Pro and Nova 16s Smartphones
Among other notable introductions was the Huawei MatePad Pro, a flagship tablet with impressive specifications. This device features a 12-inch flexible OLED PaperMatte screen with an anti-glare coating and a paper-like texture. With a thickness of just 4.7mm and weighing only 454 grams, it is exceptionally portable. The MatePad Pro supports advanced AI functions such as speech-to-text translation, improved handwriting input, and contactless stylus gestures, significantly enhancing content creation productivity. Additionally, Huawei announced the new Nova 16s smartphone series, further broadening its mobile device portfolio.
I’ve been using the Watch D for a while now, and the blood pressure monitoring has been surprisingly accurate for daily tracking, though I still double-check with a cuff periodically. My main gripe is the ecosystem lock-in, which makes integrating with non-Huawei health apps a bit clunky. The new D3 sounds promising with improved accuracy, especially post-exercise. For existing D users, I’d suggest ensuring you calibrate it regularly against a medical device for the most reliable readings. Excited to see if the D3 addresses the software integration limitations.
