France Introduces Stricter Digital Regulations for Minors

France is moving towards implementing a ban on social media use for children under 15 years old. A new bill has been passed and is awaiting approval from the French Constitutional Council. Should the legislation be enacted, France would become the first country in the European Union to impose such restrictions on minors. Globally, Australia was the first nation to introduce a similar ban on social media for under-15s in 2024.

Comprehensive Measures for Youth Digital Safety

In addition to the social media restrictions, the new French law also includes a prohibition on the use of mobile phones within schools. These comprehensive measures underscore the French authorities’ commitment to fostering a safer and more controlled digital environment for younger generations.
