The process of installing Russian applications on mobile devices running the Android operating system could become significantly more complex. This development stems from the introduction of new mandatory verification rules by Google, a concern highlighted by Maksut Shadayev, head of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, citing reports from “Kommersant.”
Previously, users could utilize various workarounds for downloading applications outside of standard channels. However, the impending changes are expected to make these alternative download methods considerably less accessible and more challenging to implement. This could pose substantial obstacles for the distribution of domestic software among Android users in Russia.
