Apple Settles Class-Action Lawsuit Over Siri AI Delay

Apple is now accepting claims from eligible iPhone owners as part of a $250 million settlement. This legal action addresses allegations that the company failed to deliver an AI-upgraded Siri experience as expected with its latest devices. The lawsuit contended that Apple created a «clear and reasonable expectation» among consumers that new AI features, announced at WWDC 2024, would be available concurrently with the release of the iPhone 16 lineup.

Eligibility for Compensation

US residents who purchased specific iPhone models are eligible to submit a claim:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • Any iPhone 16 model

These devices must have been acquired between June 10th, 2024, and an unspecified end date for the purchasing period. Despite the iPhone 16 being marketed as a device «built for Apple Intelligence,» it launched with a limited set of the promised AI capabilities.

Claim Submission and Potential Payouts

To submit a claim, individuals must provide their name, contact details, and the serial number of their eligible iPhone on the official settlement website. The deadline for submissions is December 21st, 2026. While the expected payout per eligible device is approximately $25, this amount could potentially increase to $95, depending on the total number of claims filed. This settlement aims to compensate consumers who, according to the lawsuit, were misled regarding the immediate availability of advanced Siri AI functionalities.
