The United States is witnessing an unexpected comeback in CD sales, driven by a growing interest in retro technology and physical media formats. New data from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reveals a significant surge in the first half of 2026, reversing previous declines.

Significant Growth in Sales Volume and Revenue

In the first six months of 2026, a total of 17.7 million CDs were sold across the U.S. This marks a substantial increase from the 12 million units sold during the same period in 2025, representing a jump of 45.7 percent. Concurrently, revenue generated from CD sales saw an impressive rise of 58.6% in the first half of 2026, underscoring the robust resurgence of this classic audio format.
