According to expert assessments, companies require up to six months for a new employee to fully settle into the work rhythm and master industry specifics. This period of downtime is critical amidst the acute shortage of industry-specific AI specialists in Russia.

Universities, recognizing the need to align with market demands, do not always have a clear understanding of how to effectively shorten this adaptation period. Graduates possess strong foundational skills in programming, mathematics, and algorithms, but often lack practical experience and an understanding of industrial processes.

Saprykina emphasizes that closing this gap is a top priority, one in which all market participants – both educational institutions and companies – are invested. The solution lies in closer collaboration between academia and business, creating joint programs and projects that allow students to immerse themselves in real-world AI projects during their studies and gain relevant practical experience.
